KMail: Kontact Mail
KMail is the email component of Kontact, the integrated personal information manager of K Desktop Manager (KDE). Features include:
- IMAP, POP3 and SMTP support
- secure logons with SSL, TLS or DIGEST-MD5
- signing and encrypting of emails (both PGP and GnuPG are supported)
- reading of HTML mails
- anti-spam functions

KOrganizer is the calendar and scheduling component of Kontact, the integrated personal information manager of KDE.

It is able to work together with a wide variety of groupware servers, for example Kolab, Open-Xchange, Citadel or OpenGroupware.org.
KOrganizer is fully customizable to your needs and is an integral part of the KDE PIM suite, which aims to be a complete solution for organizing your personal data. KOrganizer supports the two dominant standards for storing and exchanging calendar data, vCalendar and iCalendar.
KAddressbook is the contacts management component of Kontact, Features include:
- imports and exports to nearly every address book standard
- supports multiple LDAP servers
- intuitive printing using predefined and custom styles
- intergrates with Kopete (KDE's plugin-based, multi-protocol instant messaging monster)
- supports all international character sets
- powerful search functions
- completely customizable to your needs
- easy to embed in other applications
KNotes Component serves as your infinite block of digital sticky notes. Your can stick them on your desktop and they say visible even after closing KDE Kontact.
KNode is a full-featured KDE's default news reader. Features include:
- supports multiple newsservers
- reading and composing of MIME multipart messages
- inline display of attachments (text and images)
- supports full scoring
- drag and drop between groups and archive folders
- powerful search and filter functions
KitchenSync is the KDE frontend to the universal standard syncing solution OpenSync. It can be used to sync PDAs, mobile phones or other computers with the KDE desktop and some other applications.
Many Linux distributions now include a version of KDE in their own native package manager format (.rpm, .deb, etc.)

start a terminal and type the following at the shell prompt:

start a terminal and type the following at the shell prompt:
# apt-get install kontact or # sudo apt-get install kontact
Using Urpmi to install Kontact
start a terminal and type the following at the shell prompt:
# urpmi kdepim-kontact
